The Indrahar trek is one of the most interesting treks in Himachal Pradesh. Despite its short length, this journey is regarded to be somewhat difficult due to the numerous quick ascents and steep rises. The walk runs alongside the calm, clear waters of Lake Mankini and Lake Kareri. Hike via the Dhauladhar Range’s high terrain, traversing largely through lush green landscapes.

How to reach

Mcleodganj is roughly 500 kilometers from Delhi and 250 kilometers from Chandigarh. You can either drive yourself or take public transportation such as the train, bus, or plane. The best way to get to McleodGanj from Delhi is to take an HRTC or HPTDC overnight Volvo. There are many other private operators that provide evening buses between Delhi and Dharamshala. Traveling by train is the second and cheapest alternative for getting to Mcleod Ganj or Triund, but it is also the most time-consuming.

Head torch to keep the view visible even during the night, Clothing that is warm to protect oneself from the old night, Caps to protect from the burning sunlight, Backpack having necessary items for the trek which is just 50 to 60 liters, Daypack Having height only of about 20 to 30 liters, Can of water which can be refilled whenever possible, an extra pair of socks to be used when one is done, Thermals and fleece coats if necessary, Insect and mosquito repellant to be safe from those while trekking and also during night time, proper trekking shoes walking, woolen cap to keep your ears safe from being exposed to heavy cold winds, socks to protect yourself, mittens if necessary, and scarf made of wool.

Level of difficulty

The trekking journey to Indrahar Pass trek is said to range from Moderate to Difficult. 

Best time to visit

From May to June, and again from September until mid-October, is the greatest time to explore this magnificent place. If you want to enjoy Himachal’s cold weather before the snow arrives, September to mid-October is the perfect time to visit. If you want to escape the scorching heat of North India and visit a place with moderate weather and breathtaking scenery, go in the months of May and June. Visiting this trekking spot during the rainy season is not recommended by most people. Due to severe snowfall in the region, the trail to Indrahar Pass closed after October.

Places to visit

Bhagsu Waterfalls are named after the Bhagsu town, which is located near a spectacular Shiva temple on the way to Indrahar Pass. You’ll have to take a detour to see this magnificent waterfall. The crystal clear waters of the waterfall will entice you to have a soothing bath.

The Naddi View Point is located in the town of Naddi. This position near Mcleodganj is ideal for viewing the majestic Himalayas in all their splendor. This vista is ideal for taking in the peace and serenity of the mountains and valleys, and it provides a wonderful break from the daily grind.

Kareli Lake is on your way to Indrahar Pass, you’ll pass by this freshwater lake, which is one of the most gorgeous. If you’re lucky, you might even see migratory birds, making your stay even more memorable.

Jwala Devi Temple is one of the 52 Shakti Peeth temples, this temple sits in the midst of untouched natural splendor and may need a detour from your trail. Even in the furthest reaches of this tranquil shrine, there are no settlements
